Can lenses from a SLR film camera be used with a digital SLR camera? July 10, 2009 | 02:43 am

I have a Canon Rebel 2000 EOS with Sigma 28-80mm lens and a Sigma 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 DL Macro Super lens. Is it possible to use these lenses with a digital camera?

If they use the EF lens mount the answer is yes.

EDIT: But that yes only applies to Canon DSLRs.

My husband got me a Canon Rebel XTI digital camera for my birthday. I had a Canon Rebel EOS and I was able to use the same lens on the digital. In fact I like the old one better. Hope this helps.

Possibly - it depends on your exact combination of lenses and body.

In case they don’t (as it’s often the case unfortunately), there are many lens adapters for sale on Ebay:

    Ebay USA

    Ebay UK

Please note some features may not work (such as autofocus, automatic exposition) but they are very cheap so you may wish to try anyway.
