Canon Lens on Nikon SLR? February 7, 2010 | 07:00 am

I have a Nikon D80 and I wanted to know if a lens like this:
Canon Zoom Telephoto EF 70-200mm f/4.0L USM Autofocus Lens
would work on my D80?
If it wouldn't work directly is there some lens convertor kit I could use?

Unfortunately it won’t work and as far as I know there is no adapter. You can do it the opposite way round, put a Nikon lens on a Canon, as here.

It has to do with the sensor to lens distance, Canon’s is shorter than Nikon so there is room to fit an adapter and still focus on Infinity. These adapters make any lens only usable in Manual mode, no auto focus, no camera set aperture and no antishake.

No, it will not work on your camera
It has to do with the "mount"….
Each camera maker has its own type
of lens "mount"… the part that connects
to the camera… and they are NOT compatible.
