I have a 5 year old Rebel film camera. I have lots of lenses. I wont to go digital, but wonder if the old lenses work on the new digital camera bodies.
Thanks!

yes all lenses are compatible… with the new canon SLR digital cameras…very few are not compatible…you can take your lenses with you to the camera shop to test them out on a new SLR model…

Yes, All if not, almost all of the lenses you have should be compatible with the new DSLR’s. You should go to the store with them and mount them to make sure. Infact it would be a great idea as you can take some sample shots too and view them on the LCD.

All EF lenses (which is what your lenses will be), are compatible with Canon’s film & digital SLRs.
EF-S lenses will only work with their digital SLR cameras.

I really don’t think so because the newer cameras today use different types and sizes of lenses. For example for Canon, The Powershot S3 IS uses only lenses used for the S3 and depending on the lense model, the same one used by the S1 and S2. Film cameras are usually very different compared to a digital camera as far as the frame/body goes. And one tip, Canon is the best digital camera company just so you know!
