Hello,
I am thinking of getting my first SLR - Nikon D80
My budjet is up to 1100
I would want to get just a body for D80 and a lens seprately
I would not want to buy standard lens 18-55 but one that has better zoom that fits my budjet
Can you recommend any lenses that fit my budjet?
Thanks.

http://www.adorama.com has a D80 kit with a 18-135mm lens that’s pretty standard and has a decent amount of zoom for $1000, and this will save you some money for a good SD card.
The 18-55mm VR lens, however, is another excellent choice. I know you want some zoom, but the VR can be really handy, since most people don’t like to lug around a tripod at night.
btw, great choice. The D80 (what I use) and anything touched by Nikon is wonderful.

the Body of D80 is about $730 at B&H, this give u $370 left for the lens (that’s before tax).
Try the given link below and sorted the items by price, then pick your own lens. If possible, pick a VR lens. if u can give up VR, Nikon’s "NikonZoom Wide Angle-Telephoto 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Autofocus Lens for Digita" for $300 is pretty reasonable and should fit most of your need.

Actually the "standard" lens is a good one within your budget. You could get the VR version
Any of the Nikon AF-S lenses will work very well on your D80. Those who have been calling the 18-55mm lens a "kit" lens are degrading a fine lens.
AF-S lenses use Silent Wave Motor (SWM) with ultra-high speed auto focusing with exceptional accuracy and super-quiet operation They are also "ED" (Extra-low Dispersion lenses) … basically they are Nikon’s version of what Canon calls their "L" series lenses also with low dispersion glass and with USM (Ultra-silent Motor) AF with a nice "designer" red stripe on it.
So, do some cameras come with lenses to save the buyer some money? Yes, but in no way should these available lenses be considered an inferior "kit" lens
