I'm looking to get a lenses for my digital SLR nikon. I was wondering if someone could tell me if I am standing in the same position and I want to zoom in on something (right now I have a 35-135mm zoom) would it be better to go with a smaller number like 15-55mm or go 7-300mm? Which one is going to give me more of closer shot when standing in the same position?
i have an old 10d and i was planning to give it to my brother. but when i acquired a kit lens 18-55mm.. it doesnt fit.. i dont want to buy another ef-s lens since it might not go in ..
so the thing is .. will the ef-s 17-85mm fit in a canon 10d.. or only ef mounts ( since i normally have L lenses which are ef ) and i just purchased a kit lens so that i could give it to my brother without burning my pockets for another lens..
thanks in advance
I'm a beginner, so please try to keep your answers in simple terms.
I'm looking at the Rebel XS...there are two kits within my price range, but with different lenses.

The cheaper one comes with a 18-55mm DC lens for 0 while the other kits comes with a 18-55mm IS lens for 0.
I don't quite understand the difference between the two lenses except that the IS is better technology and has better image stabilization.
In your opinion do you think the IS kit is worth the extra money???
Is there a difference between the "EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS SLR Lens" and the "EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II Lens" ??? I know the only difference in the title is the " II " in the second, but they have the exact same name otherwise and look identical.
Please someone with experience answer, if I buy the wrong one for my Canon Digital Rebel XTi it would be a very expensive mistake lol.
Before, lenses rating such as 18mm is considered already as a fisfh eye lens. But now in the digital camera such as the default lens of Canonn Rebel XT, the 18 to 55MM is just like a 28 to 90 mm of the AF lens series.
Hey Guys, I have a Nikon D40 which I absolutely love to death.
I currently have an 18-55mm stock lens.
I am backpacking through Italy for a month or so and any debating on what would be the best SINGLE lens to bring as space is limited.
I will be shooting anything and everything like a mad man.
I am interested in the new Nikon 35mm 1.8 prime lens for its quick speed and small size.
I don't want to spend more than 250, so I know I don't have many options.
Should I get the 35mm or stick with the 18-55mm?
I'm an advanced beginner digital photographer, but I've never used a DSLR before, and I'm going to receive an XSi (just the body) for my birthday. However, I have no clue about what lens to get with it. I'd like a lens that can do a variety of things: auto focus, IS, and can do telephoto and wide-angle. Macro would be nice too; i like to take close-ups of plants and flowers. I'm also on a budget, so the cheapest would be best. Any suggestions? It needs to be a Canon brand lens, because I've heard that the XSi can be picky about lenses. Thanks!
Thanks so much! However, if I had to choose only one of those, do you think that the 18mm-55mm is definitely a necessity, and the 55mm-250mm is really good, but not essential? Or the other way around? Or do I definitely need both?
Wow, everyone's so helpful! One last thing: what exactly do those two lenses do? Is the 55mm-250mm more for close-up or far away?
I'm a VERY amateur photographer, but I love to take pics. I am hoping to upgrade to a Canon Digital Rebel (XSi hopefully, though I may go with an older XTi or XT still) in the near future, but it is the lenses I need help deciding on. If I get go with the XSi, I'd buy the kit that comes with a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens. Some shots I'd like to use my camera for are probably some outdoor macro stuff, maybe some wildlife (but probably just at zoos), kids (I'm a nanny for two families), and maybe some landscape shots. something that works well in low light conditions would also be great, as that's a huge problem I have with my current P&S (I basically avoid taking any pics inside because they simply don't turn out). My money is limited, so I'm looking for a balance between quality and price. As I'm not a pro, I don't really need the super high end lenses. Any help would be great Thanks
I have an old 35mm FILM Nikon from 1985 that I used throughout high school in my photography class. It came with a Quantaray, Nikkor, and another brand lens I can't recall.I have not used the camera since graduating and have loaned it to my cousin who is taking a class in the last couple of years. The lenses are kinda funky/don't really work and I chose not to invest in buying lenses for the camera especially since I recently made an investment in buying Canon equipment.
I recently purchased a Canon DSLR and have the following lenses(including the kit lens)
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L
Canon 50mm f/1.8
Canon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
Tamron 18-200 3.5-6.3(<-eh, yeah I know what you're gonna say here)
I'm a beginner here so be easy and be clear with me please.
1. What CANON 35mm SLR camera should I get?
(something that could sustain that 24-70 lens-it weighs a ton-
I would be safe to assume that the rebels are out of the question)
2. How many of the lens I own are compatible with Canon film SLRs?
3.Will I need a lens adapter to use the lenses with the film camera?
Please include any other information, links, or suggestions. Thanks!
Something I could buy under 0 maybe even 400 used probably that Eos 1v would probably empty out my invisible pocket if I have any after buying that 24-70 lens.I'm not looking for something too fancy since for now I rather use my digital. I just know that the rebel is too little of a camera and the other one is too much money for me right now.
I don't need a new DSLR. I use a 1D Mark III. I want the film camera to use when I want to use film, example, taking another photography class that uses film. AE models that use FD are too old for my liking. I don't want to invest in FD lenses, no matter how cheap they may cost. If thats the case I would just stick to my old Nikon and buy lenses for that. Can't I just get some names of cameras by now? I understand the whole EF and EFs thing since.
should I buy a D40 Digital SLR 2 Lens Camera Outfit w/18-55mm ED II DX AF-S & 55-200mm ED DX AF-S Lenses -52mm- or a
Nikon D-50 6.0MP Digital SLR Camera with a 28-80mm LENS and 70-300mm LENS? do i need to buy a flash too? the later deal is second hand and is on ebay and it says it's like new. the first deal is brand new. both of the cameras have two lenses.
I have a Nikon d40 with a 18-55mm and 55-200mm lens and an sb 600 flash and am thinking of getting a used 35mm nikon slr.
I was going to go with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens but I read some reviews and the downside is that it is disappointing in night or low light shots, has a lot of glare (whatever that means). I don't think all Canon lenses are like that so which one should I go for?
this is my camera i needa better lens that zooms in ad out more than the 18-55 lens!!

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT and I was wondering what other kinds of non canon brand lenses can I use with my camera? Currently I use a Canon 50mm 1.8 and the 18-55mm kit lens.
I am buying a Canon 630 35mm SLR camera body, and already have a couple of lenses for the Canon Digital Rebel XTI. Will they be interchangeable? Do I need to buy a seperate lens for the 630? I tried to figure it out on epinions but couldn't.
Thanks!
The 2 lenses I have for the Rebel XTI are:
1. Kit Lens 18-55mm (says EFS on the lens)
2. EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 USM
