Is there an adapter to use my film lenses on my digital slr? February 22, 2010 | 06:36 am

I believe its possible, but i really just need help finding what adapter i need.

Im using a nikon d100 right now, but my grandfather game me a plethora of film lenses, from multiple makers, like kiron, kalimar, albinar and tokina.
i love shooting digital and it would be a shame for the thousands of dollars worth of lenses that i have to sit around while im shooting digital.

any help?

What’s a good digital camera with a good lens (maybe leica) for around $100? February 11, 2010 | 04:12 am

I've always been and always will be film camera (leica) photographer, but I'd like a decent cheap digital camera for non-art purposes. are the lumix cameras with the leica lenses good? are they comparable in some way to leica film lenses? what are some good cameras in the 100-150 range? is there somewhere i can go to see examples of image taken with various cameras on the web?
thanks

My dad just gave me his old Minolta film camera with 3 lenses. Minolta went out of business since he's had it but I would like to get a digital SLR camera body that would fit all the lenses he gave me. Anyone know of a digital camera body that would fit Minolta's film lenses?

Digital camera wide angle lenses Canon EOS 20D? September 23, 2009 | 05:05 am

Looking for a digital specific wide angle lens ,reasonable quality, cheap price. At the moment I am using my old slr film lenses and of course digital magnifies the lenses by 1.5 this is okay with my 300mm lens making it a 450mm but my 28 has become a 42mm .I would really like something like an 18mm.
Cheers D

I just ordered a lens & found out that it was a 35mm lens instead of a Digital lens
But someone just told me that since my D80 is a DX camera that it will work with film lenses - I find that hard to believe

Any advice on lenses for Canon Digital Rebel? July 13, 2009 | 09:25 am

I have the EFS 18-55mm lens that came with the camera and it is quite good but, it is a bit lacking if you get out of auto or program modes. I got nothing but confused looking at Canon's website for a better lens. Some will fit only certain digitals. I have all the 35mm film lenses I need so I'm not looking for one that fits both types of camera. However, I would like a lens that is not dedicated to the Rebel should I decide to upgrade my camera in the future. Right now I am looking for a wide angle zoom with large enough aperture to blur background. I haven't been able to achieve this with much success with the 18-55. Any thoughts out there worth looking in to?

Can a digital lens be used on a film camera? July 7, 2009 | 03:35 am

I see many people on the web wanting to use their old film lenses on a digital camera. I'm going the other direction, still using a film camera, but wanting to get different lenses. It seems most lenses advertised these days state they are designed for digital, making it harder to find lenses specifically for film cameras. Assuming I stick with the same brand, mount type, etc., can I use a digital lens on a film camera?
If so, related question. I have seen lenses with built-in image stabilazion. Will this feature work when used in conjuction with a film camera?

Do Canon EOS film lenses work on a new digital Canon 450D camera? July 5, 2009 | 06:29 am

I'm about to buy a new Canon EOS 450D digital camera, and my dad has old EOS film lenses that he is going to give me. Would they work on the new digital camera? and is there anyway to check and see if they do? (e.g. a symbol? etc.) and is there anyway to adapt them to work with digital ones if they do not work?
Thanks,
Do you know were I can check wether they are EF or FD

What digital cameras will Quantaray film lenses work for? July 4, 2009 | 09:22 pm

I have a 28-90 mm Quantaray lens and a 70-300mm Quantaray lens that both work well with my Nikon N80 film camera. I will be upgrading to a digital camera and would like to know which ones are compatible with these film lenses. Thanks

How does the numbering system for camera lenses work? July 3, 2009 | 01:09 am

I've been shopping for a film camera, and I don't understand the numbering system for the lenses. They have two numbers separated by a dash, I've seen everything from 28-40 to 70-200, and all kinds of stuff in between. Can someone explain?

Also, if anyone knows, does this same numbering apply to film lenses as well?

Why are film camera lenses supported on metal runners? June 29, 2009 | 11:22 pm

Cameras like the Arri (for shooting celluloid) or Sony's Cine Alta and other video cameras adapted for cinema (vs. TV) have what look like two metal bars that run under the length of the camera and lens. Is it just because film lenses are heavy and need extra support? And what is the contraption called?
