I'm not looking to invest a lot of money, I would just like to have an older looking picture with a 35mm lens. I'm not familiar with film cameras so if you have any models, or old favourites, that would be great. Thanks
I have a nikon D90 SLR with a 50 mm f/1.8 and an 18-200 vr lens and a nikon sb600 flash. I bought these so I can take "professional" looking pictures. I have learned about basics of photography such as aperture and how it effects depth of field, shutter speed and freezing motion, bounce flash etc.
But despite all these my pictures are indistinguishable from a point and shoot camera. Why is this? Is it because all professional pictures are edited using photoshop?? I don't think that is the case, not everyone would photoshop every single uploaded picture on flickr. I mean I go on flickr and look at pictures taken with the same lenses and better or worse cameras, and they look AMAZING, just the color and detail and sharpness is incredible. I'm not a total amateur, I know how to use the camera very well and I have read the manual inside and out but still no luck with professional pictures. Just look at the sample pictures on nikonusa's website with the d90, and other places, those are the kind of pictures I want and that's why I spent so much freakin money. Not just to get the same results at my canon SD750 point and shoot.
Any advice? or do I pretty much need to be a photoshop wiz? ( i have photoshop CS2) If that's the case then I could have done that with my 300 dollar point and shoot instead of spending 2k on my slr and lenses.
soon i am going to buy D SLR camera. i need opinions of two things.
first i am almost new to DSLR photography at this moment Nikon D300 would be the best chice if money is not an issue. but it is worth for a novice photograper like me to spend that amount behind the camera. or how about D80 ?
second i dont know anything about different types of lenses, i would like to know different types of lenses and their uses.
thanks.
I am looking at the Canon EF-S 17-85mm IS and the Canon EF 70-200mm/4L. Any thoughts? I don't want to spend a ton of money and these seemed to be good "basics" and had great reviews.
I'm going to be taking a photography class in September, but its a ALL film class, so all need a film camera...and I just found a Canon EOS Rebel GII 35mm SLR for a 0, what I am asking is this a good camera for the money? I shoot with a Canon and WILL NOT CHANG, I'm going to be a Canon man for life. Anyhow have any of you worked with this camera? if so what did you think? Mostly what I need the film camera for is becuse all be working with a darkroom in this class.
Also heres my photography...

Hi , I am thinking of making the jump from a point&shoot to Digital SLR.
I have a Canon Rebel X with two lenses (one original lens), and one extra 50mm lens(both with AFocus). Both are Canon brand lenses.
I was thinking of buying a new Canon RebelXTi (digital SLR).
It would be great if I can reuse my old lenses. Is this possible ?
what specifications do I need to check before buying to make sure I dont have to shell out more money for new lenses.
Thanks
Kamal
I have an older 35mm film camera with a good lens. Would this be able to be used on a Rebel Xti digital SLR? I would like to save myself some money by purchasing a "body only" XTI .
My old Rebel has a 18-55 lens, and that is the same one that comes with the Xti.
Thanks.
I am interested in buying the digital slr but wondered whether i could save some money by only buying the standard lens model.
I'm a VERY amateur photographer, but I love to take pics. I am hoping to upgrade to a Canon Digital Rebel (XSi hopefully, though I may go with an older XTi or XT still) in the near future, but it is the lenses I need help deciding on. If I get go with the XSi, I'd buy the kit that comes with a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens. Some shots I'd like to use my camera for are probably some outdoor macro stuff, maybe some wildlife (but probably just at zoos), kids (I'm a nanny for two families), and maybe some landscape shots. something that works well in low light conditions would also be great, as that's a huge problem I have with my current P&S (I basically avoid taking any pics inside because they simply don't turn out). My money is limited, so I'm looking for a balance between quality and price. As I'm not a pro, I don't really need the super high end lenses. Any help would be great Thanks
I am interested in landscape, nature, train, and macro shots along with long exposure shots of fast-moving carnival rides and shallow DoF. Any advice on which entry-level lenses are best to purchase for these specific types of shooting would be much appreciated. Would the 18-55 IS kit lens that comes with an XSi be sufficient for any of these kinds of shooting? For the aforementioned types of shooting, is their a lens that would suffice for multiple types so that I don’t waste my money?
Canon XSi or XTi? Is the price premium of the XSi worth it? I already have the SD memory cards for the XSi. Should that sway my decision at all? Thanks for the help.
I am looking to buy either the Nikon D80 or Nikon D40 and used both my Sigma lenses with my film Nikon N80 and like both lenses but now I want to upgrade to a digital SLR and want to see if I can use these lenses before purchasing either the D80 or D40 to try to save money. Does anyone know if my Sigma lenses will work with the D80 or D40...thanks!!!!
Back when I had a lot of money to spend,I acquired a nice selection of Nikon F lenses, for my Nikon Fe.
Now I would like to find a decent camera body to use them for digital photography. I currently have no digital cameras.
But now, the prices on Nikon camera bodies seem out of the question for me.
Thank you for your help.
I have a range of lenses and filters and stuff but would like the usefulness of digital. Along with the above question; is it worth it? Will I be putting good money after bad? Would it just be better to start building up a digital camera from scratch? Any websites that I can buy these things from?
I'm the Director of Photography on a feature film that we're going to start filming in April or May 2010. This is a small budget film because that's all we can afford, so I'm trying not to use a huge budget on camera. The Director and I have decided to film digital at 30P in a 35mm film mode, because it's not a major theatrical release (Sundance Film Festival and maybe a local theater). So, I was thinking that a good way to save money would be to use a manual SLR lens (Nikon, Sony, or Carl Zeiss), because they are 35mm photography lenses, and then Cokin filters on the front of the lens. What do you think? Do you think it will work well?
If not, could you give me a link or something to a good video lens website? Thanks!
And by the way, we're currently looking at a Sony HVR V7U or the new Red Scarlet for the camera. They are both about ,000 cameras.
Currently I have a simple digital point and shoot Sony camera; I am planning on upgrading to the Canon Rebel XTi. Since I have only ever owned point and shoot cameras I know nothing about lenses. I would like to buy a kit on Ebay that includes the camera body and a couple of lenses. There are cheaper kits that include Tamron lenses or Sigma lenses; and more expensive kits that include Canon lenses. My question is: If I want to save money and go with the Tamron or Sigma lenses, will I be sacrificing quality? Or should I spend the extra cash and get the Canon lenses?
I saw 2 different lenses on Overstock.com: Rokinon 650-1300mm for 3 and the Rokinon 500mm for 7. Are they worth the money?
I have a Nikon N65 with 2 lenses:
1. Nikon AF Nikkor 28-80mm 1:3.3-5.6G
2. Nikon AF Nikkor 70-300mm 1:4-5.6G
I am planning to get a DSLR. I am wondering if these lenses will fit with either D60 or D80 and support auto focus and complete metering. If it's possible then I will just buy the body and use these lenses and save some money. If these lenses can not auto focus and I have to buy the whole kit then I may instead look at Canon XSi. Does anyone have similar experience with there specific lenses? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I have a broken Nikon N2002, with 3 good lenses. Does anyone know if I could use these old lenses on a new Nikon Digital SLR Body? I am really interested i getting back into photography, and if I could save some money by using my old lenses it would help.
Thanks.
