have a nikon F camera just found. no lenses . trying to obtain best lens i can afford. is it possible to get best photos with new immage stabilization nikon lenses as opposed to a old non-AI type.any ideas appreciated.
is possibly a adapter available?

Question about lenses & brands for a D-SLR? March 2, 2010 | 04:38 pm

I'm looking to buy a D-SLR soon. I'm just a student, and it will be my first so I don't need the works, but I also want it to be a camera that I can keep for a while and sort of "grow into". I'm not sure exactly what my budget is, but my question is this: If I buy a particular brand of camera, am I locked into buying that brand of lenses as well? Like say I buy a Nikon, can I only buy Nikon lenses?

I think i have made up my mind on getting a D80.

i have found 2 combinations of lenses i could get

(they are nikon lenses ofcourse)

1- 18-55 mm
2- 70-300 mm VR

(,330)

OR

1- 18-55mm
2- 70-300mm
3- 50mm f/1.8

(,125)
(this one comes with some random accessories aswell)

i shoot mainley portraits and landscapes. sometimes wildlife and sports. i travel a lot aswell

which combination should i get?
They are all Nikkor nikon lenses
they are all also AF

the apertures for both combos:

18-55 is f/3.5 - 5.6
70-300 VR is f/4 - 5.6
50mm is f/1.8

Which is better Nikon or Canon when it comes to SLR ? January 19, 2010 | 02:12 am

I hear so much about Canon and Nikon, but which is really better. I have purchased two Coolpix cameras and I jsut bought the Nikon D60 a few days ago. I have 10 days to make up my mind about the camera. What do you think? Canon or Nikon? And what is it about the Nikon lenses? I hear that they're all interchangeable, but doesn't other cameras do the same thing? Thanks, guys!

I was looking for Canon slrs:

1. EOS 50D
2. EOS 40D
3. Any other canon's under that price range

for Nikon SLR:
D90 only

Please help me choosing especially between the Canon SLRs listed and then help me determine between Nikon and Canon.

Are Canon lenses compatible with all of their models?
Are Nikon lenses compatible with all their models?

Suggestions on 18-55mm lens with Canon Digital Rebel XT/XTi? December 13, 2009 | 01:44 am

Hi,
I have been looking to upgrade to a Digital SLR and looking for a good one. I decided to go for Canon Digital Rebel XT/XTi primarily because of 2 reasons:
1. They are cheaper than Nikon with similar features
2. Have friends who have canon lenses,which I can borrow.

Can you give me suggestions on the lenses. I was told that the Nikon lenses are better than the Canon lenses.

Also that Nikon body is more sturdy than Canon.

Any other reasons to stick (or not) to Canon.

Can the D60 digital camera use any older Nikkor lens from the film cameras? If so, is the aperture ring functional or does the camera meter the light automatically?
What I mean is, what older lenses will use the full-functionality of the D60 features, and what type are simply compatible but may not have auto-focus or some other capability? I see lots of older Nikon lenses on ebay for 0 or less but not sure if they are a good option.

Over the years I have accumulated several Nikon lenses that I had adapted, by Nikon, to my Nikormat NT camera. This body has evaporated in my home and I need to replace it. I think I want a Nikon "D" series Digital. Question: will the lenses I have work on it?

Because I have a bunch of nikon lenses already. Some of them are old school. One is relatively new and works with 35mm slrs and DSLRs.

I'd like to get a new camera (Mainly because I have 0 credit at Best Buy), but the least expensive model that will still take good photos and work with my lenses. And I'd like to spend under 800.00

I'm interested in buying a Nikon D300 this week, but was very interested in using a Canon compact photo printer. I know most people's first response will be to buy a Canon Camera, but I have about ten years of Nikon lenses that I'm not too keen to part with at a loss, so finding a portable printing solution is kind of foremost right now...thanks!

I'm buying a digital SLR soon, A Nikon D40x to be exact. and I was wondering if any Nikon lenses were good for portraits/photoshoots. I'm interested in other types of photography too, so support for other types would be nice, but I really would like a nice all around lens that make people nice and clear when shooting portraits.
