I was looking to buy some lenses for my camera and I wanted to know which brand lens I should buy. I searched for Canon, Sigma, and Quantaray. I noticed Canon lenses are a lot more expensive. Which ever one you choose, what is wrong with the other ones. i.e. if you pick Canon, then tell me what is wrong with Sigma and Quantaray.
Are Nikkor lenses better than Canon and are they only for Nikon?
i have a pic of a canon slr with a zoom attached to it. i dont know anything about the zoom lense.
the only piece of information i have is that slr is a canon T-50 and the Filter Size of that Zoom is
62 mm. Can some one please advise giving me a list of possible Zoom Lenses out of which one could be the one which is attached to this T-50 Pic. I could search and find that Sigma DG 28-300 is one of them, but the pic of Sigma DG 28-300 does not look like the one which is attached to the T-50. Thanks for your help and expertise! sincerely - Manav M
I have Minolta and going to use Tamron Lenses / / http://www.tamronlenses.net /. or I should use Sigma?
I have received a Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG Macro lens for a gift. I own a Olympus digital camera and this lens does not fit it. I would like to keep the lens (it was a gift) and maybe buy another camera it would fit on and I don't want to pay a lot for a second camera. Does anyone know a good cheap camera this lens will fit on? Thanks...
Is there a way to take the lens apart and set it at f3.5 or f4 manuallly, then use it on a digital Canon camera? The lens is an older model Sigma APO and won't change stops on the newer digital cameras. Was designed for film cameras.
It will change on a film camera. Can I change the stops on film cam, then put it on my digital??
I have a sony A2oo digital camera and am looking to buy a new lens, i am looking at the SIGMA 100-300mm ZOOM SLR LENS 1:4.5-6.7..... does anyone know if this will fit, cheers
I recently purchased a Canon Xsi DSLR camera. However, I only want to purchase one lens for this camera but I am confused on what to purchase. I was looking at a 18-200 or 18-135 lens but want to get feedback on what to get. I only want one lens! I heard Tamron, Canon and Sigma make good lenses but I am torn. THanks!
Hi,
I am thinking about buying a D-SLR. I own a Nikon F55 and a canon power shot A400. The Digital SLR can’t be to expensive I am thinking maximum 400 £.. Do anyone have any suggestion for a camera I can buy? And is it possible to use film SLR lens on a D-SLR? (My lens is a
Sigma zoom 28-80mm 1:3.5-5.6 2 Macro Ø55)
I know that Sony took over Minolta and understand that Minolta AF lenses will work in manual mode, but will Sigma AF lenses work either in manual mode or AF mode?
Is there a way to take the lens apart and set it at f4, then use it on a digital Canon camera? The lens is an older model Sigma APO and won't change stops on the newer digital cameras. Was designed for film cameras.
I have a sigma SA-7N slr camera and a 28-80mm and 70-300mm lense. I want to purchase a canon rebel eos T1i. I want to know if the lenses I already have will work with this new dslr or will I have to purchace new lenses..
I purchased a nikon d80 package for my wife. It was supposed to come with a Nikon 28-80 F3.3-5.6G AF Zoom Nikkor lens but they "upgraded" me to a sigma 28-70mm f2.8-4 DG lens. I don't think this is an "upgrade". Can someone help explain to me if I got taken? Thanks
I currently have the Nikon N80 film SLR camera and was wondering if I could use a Sigma dSLR macro lens on it. This is the lens I'm looking at:
http://www.amazon.com/Sigma-50mm-Macro-Nikon-Cameras/dp/B0002P19Q2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1241744118&sr=8-4
I know that this lens can be used with Nikon dSLRs, but I don't know if most dSLR lenses can be used on a SLR.
Thank you so much!
So I've decided on the Nikon D80 and now I'm considering lenes. I really like the extra zoom and Macro ability I would get from the Tamron (or Sigma) 18-200mm lenes over the 18-135mm Nikon kit lens. Other than a quiter AF, are there any other advantages to the 18-135mm? Does it work better because it was made specifically for Nikons? How much louder are non silent wave lenes? Are there differences in AF speed?
If there are other lenes I should be considering, I'd love to know about them. And, no, although it would be nice, I can't afford the Nikon 18-200mm VR!!
Thanks.
This lens is currently used on a 1998 model K-mount Ricoh 35mm camera. I have read that Pentax digital SLR bodies can work with most Pentax 35 mm lenses but can they work on K mount Sigma 35 mm lenses?
sell or trade my Minolta maxxum 7, ( 1 ) Sigma 28mm- 105mm
lense, & ( 1 ) 28mm-300mm lense. Plus extras; ex. filters, bag,
3600HS speedlight, & more. 18 months old.
I am looking to purchase my first SLR camera (Probably a Canon XTi) and I have been looking at some packages that contain additional lenses. The packages that come with the additional Canon lenses seem to be more expensive than those that come with third party lenses (ie. Sigma or Tamron). How big a deal is it to use a 3rd party lense vs, the Canon lense? Will I lose functions by not using the branded lense? Or is this a case of paying extra for the Canon name? Thanks for the help, this SLR and lense changing stuff is all new to me.
I have a Canon Rebel 2000 EOS with Sigma 28-80mm lens and a Sigma 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 DL Macro Super lens. Is it possible to use these lenses with a digital camera?
OK, i currently have an Canon Elan 7. for that camera i have a few lenses.. but not canon lenses. they are by manufacturers such as sigma, tameron, etc.. i have read that Canons auto focus lenses will work on the new digital body cameras(i am looking at getting a 20D), but they never say anything about the non-mfg lenses. does anyone know if they will work as well, or is this not a clear cut answer?
Thanks!
I need to get a 105 mm macro, the nikon is twice as much as the sigma. Is it worth it to pay twice as much?? It will be on a D90 body.
I also have an 18-200 mm Vr, i'm thinking of replacing that eventually with a 70-200 f/2.8 and a 18-55 f/2.8. Once again the sigma ones are half the price of nikon.
So my main question is do I really have to pay twice as much to get the results I want? What really is the difference between say a 70-200 mm f/1.8 from nikon and sigma that makes the nikon 700 dollars more, that's a big amount.
I guess my other question is it worth it to replace the 18-200 mm VR with 2 lenses that are f/2.8 and cover the same range and pay a whole lot more instead of just keeping the 18-200 VR?
