I am looking for a Multi-Purpose lens that will work with my Nikon N70 35mm Film camera body, that won't be really expensive.

Something like the 24-70mm will give you a good wide angle as well as something that will give you a near portrait lens length … if you can find a used 24-85mm macro, it will be a great general purpose lens.

Nikon’s best all-purpose lens for film cameras is the 28-105.

It’s pretty sharp, fairly fast and has a useful macro setting.

Expect to pay $250 or so on the used market — they are discontinued.

You want to look at AF and AF-D Nikkors. An AF-G won’t work in manual or aperture-priority modes.

AF-D 35-70 f/2.8 would be an excellent choice and can be had used relatively inexpensively.
